A new viewing platform/picnic spot is set to open in May in Zimbabwe’s Gonarezhou National Park (GNP).

It was designed to create an additional attraction in the park and Chivilila Falls. GNP Senior Area Manager, Evious Mpofu, said the platform was set high on a ridge above the Runde Gorge in the Runde River with a view down to the Chivilila falls.

 “While many tourists have requested to see the Chivilila Falls, there is currently no access to the site or any facilities there. The new platform will enable tourists to view the Falls from a great vantage point.”

He added that the platform was located at the start of the gorge, about 1.5 km downstream of Chipinda Pools Campsite. It is accessed from the Chivilila Campsite Road.
