The Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA) is jointly hosting a familiarisation trip this week – with tour operators and media – with the Kingdom of Eswatini and Mozambique to promote the recently established Triland route.
The trip, which kicked off on Monday (August 15) and will conclude on Sunday (August 21), started with a two-day visit to the Kingdom of Eswatini and went on to Mozambique for another two days. It will conclude in Mpumalanga over the weekend.
“This is an exciting opportunity for the three tourism agencies to showcase their own tourism offerings, which will afford the tour operators the chance to package the Triland route for promotion in the three countries,” said Acting CEO of MTPA, Mduduzi Vilakazi.
This familiarisation trip forms part of some of the elements found within the Memorandum of Understanding that was signed recently at Africa’s Travel Indaba 2022 in Durban. The Triland route is about enhancing regional tourism initiatives, collaboration, and support exchange programmes created with the overall objective of growing tourism for the three partners.
“This is the first of several initiatives that will be implemented during the next two years to package the unique selling points of each country i.e. wildlife, adventure and scenic beauty for Mpumalanga, the royal tradition and culture of Eswatini and the sea and white sandy beaches in Mozambique,” explained Vilakazi.
