Ethiopian Airlines will up its frequency from Addis Ababa to Accra, Ghana, from daily to 11 weekly, from the end of March.
This is primarily part of its third-wave growth plan of increasing connectivity, choice, and competitiveness.
Ghana is fast becoming an ideal destination for eco-tourists and those wishing to witness first hand community-based eco-tourism projects.
The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic highlighted that African countries no longer had a choice but to work together to grow and recover their tourism industries, putting the growth of intra-Africa travel firmly in the spotlight as a key priority on the continent.
“One of the great side-effects of COVID-19 was that it saw an increase of regional and domestic tourism, showing us that, if we grow intra-Africa tourism, we build resilience,” said Dr Geoffrey Manyara, Economic Affairs Officer for Tourism for the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, Rwanda.
Ghana has been identified as a key tourism source market for both southern and East Africa for business and leisure travel.
All 11 weekly services are non-stop in both directions.
