The Southern Africa Tourism Services Association (Satsa), in partnership with Wesgro, has announced the dates for its 2019 Garden Route Mega Fam trip. It will take place from October 17 to 20.

Following the successful inaugural Garden Route Mega Fam trip last year, this year’s event will be split into six different tours between October 17 and 19. The trip will conclude with a round-robin event, hosted at Fancourt, on October 20.

Satsa CEO David Frost says that key feedback from the recent Central Europe and UK Roadshow, conducted by South African Tourism and private sector associations, showed a need for new products, experiences and geographical spread.

“As the representative body for private-sector inbound tourism, Satsa places regional growth on its agenda – connecting the private and public sector to spearhead successful regional initiatives that foster tourism growth and geographical spread,” Frost said.

He added that regional growth strategies are aimed at injecting new energy into the tourism sector and introducing diversity and variety, which will ultimately provide unique and authentic experiences for tourists.

Satsa said in a statement that it is thankful for the partnership with Wesgro, which gave rise to the first of these successful initiatives, as well as for the expansion of the initiatives to other Western Cape regions.

Wesgro’s CEO, Tim Harris, welcomed the continued collaboration and partnership with Satsa, as well as tourism partners in the region showcasing the best of the Garden Route and the Klein Karoo.

Buyers from across South Africa can click here to register.  Registration closes on September 23. All flights, accommodation, transport and meals will be covered through the partnership between Satsa and Wesgro.

Garden Route and Klein Karoo suppliers are invited to register for the round robin.
