Tourism bodies such as FEDHASA, SATSA and the Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA) have reiterated the need for South Africa to achieve high levels of vaccinations to ensure certainty and trust in key source markets.
TBCSA also successfully lobbied the government to prioritise jabs for tourism frontline workers and Zimbabwe led the way in setting up priority vaccination sites for tourism workers.
The tourism private sector took it a step further by not only setting up vaccination sites at their lodges, hotels and resorts, but by creating vaccination policies making it compulsory for their staff to be vaccinated.
