The annual music event, the Golden Gate Classics, has been cancelled due to uncertainty regarding COVID-19.
Scheduled for November 27-29, the weekend would have attracted crowds eager to listen to classical and jazz music under the stars in the Golden Gate Highlands National Park.
“We have had to cancel this event for 2020 even though we have moved to lockdown level 1, which allows for gatherings of 500 people outdoors,” said SANParks Managing Executive for Tourism Development, Hapiloe Sello. “The Golden Gate Classics is usually held in December and due to the lockdown, it has been difficult to plan for an event of this size.”
Sello said the safety of guests and staff would remain a top priority. “We hope that in 2021 we will be able to provide our guests with the once-in-a-lifetime that is the Golden Gate Classics.”
