Joburg Tourism, in partnership with Sandton Central, has launched the first tourism kiosk in Sandton in an effort to make Johannesburg a safer and more accessible place to visit.
The kiosk is located at the Sandton Gautrain station and will serve as a visible policing spot that operates 24 hours a day. It will also be staffed by two of the twelve multilingual tourism ambassadors that are part of the City of Johannesburg’s Tourism Ambassador Programme, which promotes the dissemination of tourism information and safety in the city.
The ambassadors have been trained and educated in tourism information, service excellence, communication and conflict management, by-laws, road safety and community patrolling.
“Our new tourist information services will ensure that visitors to Sandton Central can get all the very latest information," said Elaine Jack, Sandton Central Management District City Improvement Manager.
Councillor Leah Knott, the City of Joburg’s MMC for the Department of Economic Development, said the tourism kiosk was a fine example of the city collaborating with businesses and community bodies to enhance the overall experience and safety of citizens as well as leisure and business visitors.
