Zambia’s Kafunta Safaris is expanding its accommodation offerings in Kafunta River Lodge with the upcoming addition of Sunset House, a family suite.
The private house, which will open this year, is under construction and located by the Luangwa floodplains.
Izzy Defourny, Sales & Marketing Manager at Kafunta Safaris, explained that Sunset House shared the grounds with Kafunta River Lodge, offering independent services such as a separate entrance, personal butler, chef, and safari guide. Guests can walk to the main lodge for dining or wellness treatments, “but otherwise guests will have everything they need at the Sunset House”.
The house features three en-suite bedrooms, a spacious dining area, expansive outdoor decking, an infinity pool, and a fireplace. The accommodation comes with exclusive services, including a dedicated private guide. The suite is divided into two units. The primary unit houses two generously sized en-suite bedrooms. The adjoining unit contains the third en-suite bedroom.
All bedrooms offer full private bathrooms and an individual lounge, with the option to convert a day bed for an extra guest. Sunset House will operate with the same opening dates as Kafunta River Lodge: April 1 (or March 29 in 2024 as Easter falls early) to January 5.
The lodge offers a range of activities, including walking safaris (for children aged 12 and above), game drives in South Luangwa National Park, and cultural visits to nearby Mfuwe, just 20 minutes away.
Nestled in South Luangwa National Park, Kafunta River Lodge is a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Chipata and only forty-five minutes from Mfuwe Airport. Transfer to the lodge is offered. Travelling from Lusaka for international guests, the flight to Mfuwe Airport is about seventy minutes.
Kafunta Safaris owns and operates Kafunta River Lodge, Three Rivers Camp and Island Bush Camp.
