The Zimbabwean Government has revised its position on the story (published Friday, March 6), noting that it continues to adhere to World Health Organization (WHO) regulations and guidelines on COVID-19.

All travellers entering Zimbabwe, including those from countries with confirmed COVID-19 cases such as South Africa, will be screened at ports of entry into the country.

Travellers with symptoms suggestive of COVID-19 will be referred immediately to designated isolation centres for further clinical examination and assistance.

Previously, it was reported that travellers from countries affected by COVID-19 who did not have valid medical certificates showing they were negative, would be deported.

Zimbabwe has not confirmed any COVID-19 cases to date.

In a press statement, the Zimbabwean Minster of Health and Child Care, Dr Obadiah Moyo, said: “Government further clarifies that there are no additional requirements on travellers, visitors and airlines outside those already provided for under WHO regulations, guidelines and advisories.”
