An agreement signed by SAA and striking union members will see the airline returning to full operations tomorrow, November 23.
According to a statement issued moments ago, SAA, the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) and the South African Airways Cabin Crew Association (Sacca), officially reached settlement earlier today.
SAA says it will restore a full flight schedule in stages over the weekend. By Sunday, November 24 all operations, including domestic, regional and international, will be fully operational.
However, on Saturday November 23, passengers can expect “near normal service”. There will still be selected cancellations on the domestic network and a small number of regional flights.
Numsa and Sacca “will, with immediate effect, call-off the industrial action, and instruct their members currently on strike to return to work latest by 23 November 2019.”
The terms settled on include a 5,9% wage increase for workers, which depends on SAA’s fund availability.
