Airlink has added another new route to its expanding intra-Africa network, with the launch of its Johannesburg-Entebbe service. The launch had been expected earlier this year, but due to a tightening of COVID-19 restrictions in both countries, was postponed until restrictions were eased.
The route will operate twice a week and flights are timed to provide convenient connections to Airlink’s domestic and regional network to and from various Southern African destinations.
“Entebbe is not just Uganda’s primary tourism and trade hub, it is also strategically positioned for access to the wider Eastern African Community nations and the Great Lakes, which represent significant markets. Our flights will enable closer relations, promote economic activity and make it possible for tourists to enjoy the diverse array of travel experiences on offer in South Africa and Uganda as well as Southern and Eastern Africa,” said Airlink CEO and MD, Rodger Foster.
Tickets include 20kg free economy-class checked-in luggage allowance, plus a 15kg sporting equipment allowance. On board, customers are offered a complimentary light meal, refreshments, generous leg-room and a choice of aisle or window seat (Airlink’s flights do not have middle seats).
A business-class product is offered on this route with six seats with extra width, generous pitch and plenty of leg-room, arranged in a two-plus-one abreast configuration. Business-class service includes complimentary meals and beverages, a 30kg checked-in luggage allowance, priority boarding and lounge access at selected airports.
The flight schedule is:
4Z 190 departs Johannesburg on Wednesdays and Sundays at 21h15, arriving Entebbe the following day at 02h30.
4Z 191 departs Entebbe on Mondays and Thursdays at 03h30 and arrives in Johannesburg at 07h00.
