In a recent poll to Tourism Update readers, we asked about the anticipated impact of the United States CDC’s classification of South Africa’s risk level on inbound travel.
From 103 votes, 55% of readers said ‘yes’, they thought the reassessment of risk level would dampen travellers’ plans to visit South Africa.
Only 24% voted ‘no’, and 20% said ‘maybe’.
This week DMCs/operators have highlighted that a lack of available rooms (hotels and lodges) as well a scarcity of airlift could be a major barrier to bringing large groups into the Southern and East Africa region.
