Inbound industry association, SATSA, has developed a tourism-specific toolkit for its members, with helpful information about South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPI) and how it affects tourism businesses.

The Act took effect on July 1 but will only be enforced from July 1, 2021, giving tourism businesses a chance to implement necessary systems and processes.

SATSA started work on the toolkit, which also includes information about the General Data Protection Regulation, in 2019 and has now announced its publication.

The association will also host a webinar in January with a regulatory and compliance specialist, who will explain the toolkit and the ‘must-do’s’ for all sizes of tourism businesses.
