Saruni will introduce The Northern Express in May, providing guests a new way of exploring the region’s northern area in a custom-made vehicle, which will be based at Saruni Samburu, allowing for quick, comfortable and safe transfers between various tourist attractions.

The routes will connect the Saruni properties with Reteti Elephant Sanctuary, a popular excursion for tourists visiting Kenya. In addition, The Northern Express will connect Samburu with Laikipia, therefore making it easier for guests to experience a safari whilst taking full advantage of the landscape between the two regions. The Northern Express will reach Nairobi for those who would prefer to take the new highway to their destination.

“The Northern Express is another step in the direction of making legendary, vast, remote northern Kenya more accessible to a larger number of people. Especially the Reteti Elephant Sanctuary, as it will now be within easy reach. As the leading company in the region, we are proud of helping the local communities to add value to their land and destinations,” says Riccardo Orizio, Saruni CEO.

The Northern Express will come with a dedicated driver, and is fitted with air-conditioning and comfortable interiors.

“The Northern Express is setting new standards in how our guests can reach destinations within a region that is fast developing as the latest frontier for conservation and tourism,” explains Orizio.

Kenya’s ‘Big North’ combines wilderness with culture and adventure. According to Orizio, Northern Kenya has been transformed in the last few years by a community-driven determination to promote and maintain peace, protect the region’s unique wildlife habitats, whilst preserving diverse and historic cultures.

“This area is one of Africa’s best-kept secrets. Vast, arid, made of epic landscapes, rich in wildlife, home to some of the most interesting communities in East Africa, and authentic,” concludes Orizio.

Saruni has two properties in northern Kenya, Saruni Samburu in the private Kalama Conservancy, and Saruni Rhino in Sera Conservancy.
