Kariba Safari Lodge is the latest addition to the Zambezi Cruise & Safaris portfolio. The lodge, located on the banks of Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe, is set to open this September.
Situated on a forested mountainside, with sweeping views over the water of Lake Kariba and the islands in the eastern basin of the lake, this newly-built safari lodge offers individual lodges and suites that are distributed over 33-acres of woodland hillside, sloping down to the lake shore and beach area.
The lodge comprises nine individual lodges, and eight suites set on various levels amongst the tropical forest, all fitted with en-suite bathrooms and private lake-view patios. Ceiling fans, mosquito nets, a mini-bar and complimentary tea and coffee facilities will be provided in each of the lodgings.
The main lodge has been built with an elevated deck, set against the mountainside where the open-plan lounge, restaurant, outdoor patio and bar is located – all of which draw immediate attention to the views of the ‘ocean-like’ Lake Kariba.
Additional facilities include a swimming pool and casual bar with a communal boma area. Free Wi-Fi will also be available to guests. Furthermore, Kariba Safari Lodge is an ideal conference and wedding venue, as a separate conference and wedding venue has been built with Lake vistas.
Activities include either a half-day tour of Kariba to the Dam Wall, Santa Barbara Chapel, Kariba Heights and Mahombekombe Township, a sunset cruise or a half-day guided fishing expedition to catch the famed Tiger or African indigenous Bream (Tilapia) fish.
Access to the lodge for self-drive guests or 4x4 enthusiasts is via the main road from Harare-Makuti, and is only five minutes from Kariba Dam. For those travelling from Lusaka, the duration of the drive is around three hours. Road transfers are available when combining the Zambezi Cruise & Safari Lodges and Cruise Boats circuits, or a private aircraft charter can be organised from Victoria Falls Airport.
