A guest tent at Great Plains’ Mara Plains camp has become a nursery for two very special, spotted babies.
The leopard cubs were discovered at only two days old after guests at the camp reported heavy footfall on the canvas roof of their tent. Their mother, Fig, had chosen the campsite as a birthing den after giving birth to her previous cub, Toto, in the same location.
Great Plains Founders and National Geographic filmmakers, Dereck and Beverly Joubert, chronicled the lives of Fig and Toto in their film ‘Jade Eyed Leopard’, which will soon be released on the National Geographic channel.
Watch the cubs exploring their birthplace in this video, which was shared to Great Plains’ YouTube.
