We love this photo (posted on Facebook by Earth Mazing) of the beautiful lilies that flower in the Namibian desert after seasonal rainfall.
In March last year the lilies bloomed for the first time for three years after heavy rains.
It is one of the most spectacular natural phenomena – the flowering of millions of bulbs covering the once dry and sandy soil. The funnel-shaped flowers (Crinum Paludosum) bloom in marshy areas and only last for six or seven days before they change colour from pink to white, and then wither.
