Operators’ licences and the National Public Transport Operator. Tourism safety. Visas. Air access (or lack thereof). Restrictive government policies. The list of countries denied entry for being too ‘high-risk’ in terms of COVID numbers. Ongoing economic lockdowns.
Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) and the Temporary Employee Relief Scheme (TERS) debacle. Tiered pricing. Foreign office travel advisories. Quarantines. Business Interruption insurance. Job creation. Job losses.
Community upliftment. Conservation. Strong female leadership. Transformation of the sector.
These are just some of the issues that the Southern and East African tourism, hospitality and travel sector feels passionately about. But many are reluctant to speak out for fear of recrimination or victimisation.
Tourism Update prides itself on its independence and impartiality and we want to hear from you – whether you are a member of government or a parastatal that feels unfairly judged by the private sector, an operator who feels you’re not heard by government, a tourism worker who is under pressure or an overseas partner who wants to highlight certain barriers to entry.
We will ensure you are a legitimate member of the industry but we will keep your contribution anonymous. We encourage you to speak out.
