National Aviation Services (NAS) and NAC2000 Corporation have been awarded a tender by Zambia Airports Corporation Ltd (ZACL) to operate a lounge at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka.

The lounge will be in the airport’s planned new terminal, which is scheduled to open in August.

The exclusive departure lounge will be 588sqm and will cater for all passengers.

ZACL has committed US$360m through its five-year tender to the ongoing expansion at the airport and is part of ZACL’s plans to upgrade each of Zambia’s four international airports.

NAS is one of the leading airport service providers in emerging markets and NAC2000 Corporation is a key ground services company in Zambia.

Kenneth Kaunda International Airport is the largest airport in Zambia and hopes to serve as a hub for the Southern African region. Currently, it has a capacity of two million passengers per annum, which is expected to increase to 4.2m-6m.

International airlines, including Proflight Zambia, Air Tanzania, RwandAir, Airlink, Ethiopian Airlines, Emirates, CemAir, and KLM, in partnership with Kenya Airways, operate out of the airport. Zambia Airways, once operational, will also fly from this airport. However, there is no set date yet for the carrier’s resumption of operations.
