At the Jabulani Safari Lodge, located in the Kapama Private Game Reserve in the Greater Kruger Park area, there are endless opportunities to capture golden hour moments of light or action shots of impala leaping across the path. Experienced guides assist guests on their journey of creating beautiful art through the lens of a camera.

Rangers have their own passion for photography and can provide photographic tips and valuable information about wildlife to make a photographic safari enriching and rewarding. The choice of having a private vehicle gives more control over how guests want their safari to go in terms of pace and length.

Jabulani’s photographic safaris are provided at a variety of times throughout the day and into the night. Every season has its own unique highlights of wildlife, so Jabulani encourages visitors all year round, especially in celebration of Jabulani the resident rescue elephant’s recent birthday.

From May to October, the landscape is dry, due to the winter climate with little rain. The vegetation is sparse, which makes game-viewing easier as animals gather at waterholes and rivers. A wet summer follows from November to April. This season is characterised by lush green vegetation and is also calving season, making it an ideal time to view baby animals.

Guests are encouraged to bring the following items with to ensure they are best equipped for a photographic safari: a camera, lens hood, universal plug adapter, spare battery and charger, SD cards, camera bag with protective layering, UV and polarising filters, laptop and card reader, cleaning kit, and rain and dust covers.

Jabulani will provide guides with photography knowledge and experience, open-sided vehicles, sandbags, rain gear such as ponchos, and photographic opportunities of the rescued Jabulani elephant herd at the waterhole or at sunset as they head home.
