Natural Selection’s new camp in the Northern Okavango, Duke’s Camp, is set to open in June.

While Jack’s Camp takes its cue from the desert, Duke’s Camp draws its inspiration from the crystal-clear channels and bountiful islands of the Okavango Delta. This permanent camp is named in honour of Sarefo ‘Duke’ Sarefo, the custodian of this special piece of wilderness, who was born 80 years ago on the very island that the camp now occupies.

Guides with expert knowledge of the bushcraft and lore of the Delta help guests discover this wild landscape – whether it’s on an enthralling game drive, gliding quietly on a mokoro through the channels, soaring on a hot-air balloon ride or taking a thrilling helicopter flight over the Delta.

The camp will open with eight luxurious safari tents on platforms, with a further four coming in March 2023. Each room is decorated in a vintage safari aesthetic – plush fabrics, Persian rugs, and hand-carved four-poster beds.

The main mess area has old-world glamour combined with elegant Persian tea-tent. At the day’s end, guests gather in the lounge to trade tales amidst the cabinets of curiosities filled with Africana and collectables.

Meals are a lavish affair of crystal glasses and antique silverware, with three-course dinners that celebrate the rich Jack’s Camp tradition of honouring guests with fine food and wine in the African bush.
