This week’s top comment focused the possibility that there may be a lack of charter coaches to service the 2021 British and Irish Lions rugby tour.
Owner of the Cape Town-based Tour du Cap, Francoise Armour, said this was a reality for several other sectors of the industry. She commented:
“This is very frightening. What industry body do charter coach companies belong to that can approach government on their behalf? Is SATSA enough?
Small and medium-sized tour operators and experienced foreign language tour guides will be pretty much in the same boat by the time the industry picks up. We will have mostly disappeared and who will provide the service? Newcomers with less experience offering low quality and less reliability?”
