EZ Shuttle is one of the private companies assisting the government to transport essential service workers during the nationwide 21-day lockdown.

From employees in the medical sector to banking and insurance, the shuttle company is transporting these workers across South Africa.

Minister of Transport, Fikile Mbalula, announced on March 25 that transport for essential workers would be allowed to operate from 05h00 to 09h00 and again from 16h00 to 20h00 during the lockdown.

National Head of Sales & Marketing of EZ Shuttle, Jaqi van Vuren, told Tourism Update that the company had received support from the government to obtain all the necessary documentation to operate.

“We are transporting in excess of 2 500 people on a daily basis across the country and we feel honoured to be helping South Africa deal with the pandemic,” said Van Vuren.

“We feel blessed that the company can continue to operate during these difficult and uncertain times, where many businesses across the board have been impacted.”

She explained that the South African Police Service was on standby to assist the shuttle service company if necessary. “So far, everything has been running smoothly and we want to ensure that it remains that way throughout the lockdown period.”
