Following a successful Travel Industry Golf Day earlier this month, the second event of the year is set for March 19 at the Johannesburg Country Club.

Participants unanimously agreed that making up fourballs of individual inbound trade golfers at the latest Travel industry Golf Club day at Houghton, Johannesburg – on Tuesday, February 4 – had resulted in a “remarkable networking opportunity”, according to feedback received.

The inbound golfers played together, networked at a long drinks table after the game and then dined early at specially reserved tables of eight.

Business cards were much in evidence as relationships were established or renewed. Tour operators, ground handlers and suppliers appeared to relish the opportunity. Most subsequently took up Tourism Update’s offer on the day to sponsor their first year’s membership.

The Club plays six games a year, which are sponsored by suppliers. Travelex sponsored the Houghton game.

SATSA and Tourism Update are driving the push to encourage more inbound golfers to join in. SATSA CEO, David Frost, will again be playing on March 19 at the next event at the Johannesburg Country Club.

Tourism Update will pay the fee of inbound trade players who would like to join in if it is their first game with TIGC. The fee for members including the dinner is R290 and non-members R390.
