The Rwanda Development Board will host a naming ceremony for new-born baby gorillas on September 6, in Kinigi, Volcanoes National Park.
The ceremony of giving a name to a new-born baby, known as ‘Kwita Izina’, has been part of Rwandan culture for centuries.
The name given to a baby gorilla plays a significant role in the ongoing programme of monitoring an individual gorilla in its family group and habitat.
This year, 25 gorillas are expected to be named.
