The CSIR International Convention Centre has a vacancy for a Technical Services Manager. The incumbent will ensure delivery of efficient, effective and innovative technical facilities, services and equipment as per standards to the Convention Centre’s clients and staff. Key responsibilities: • Plan and organize the resources of the Technical Services Department to ensure that the CSIR ICC Audio Visual offering exceeds standards expected of an international convention centre. • Manage, control and monitor delivery of relevant, innovative and effective technical systems, equipment, infrastructure and related services for the Centre’s clients and staff to ensure excellent customer satisfaction. • Remain abreast of technology trends, identify suitable suppliers and run procurement processes for 3rd party vendor services in accordance with the CSIR Procurement Framework. • Ensure effective management of staff and contractors to ensure excellent service delivery. • Implement and maintain processes, standards and procedures leading to more efficient and cost effective audio visual solutions and services to the Centre’s clients. • Accountable for all ICT, RF communications, security, broadcasting/receiving, building management and safety systems including but not limited to CCTV, entire network infra-structure, Telephony: IP, ISDN & Analogue systems, Intruder alarm and Fire Detection system through implementing appropriate installation, maintenance and usage plans, standards and procedures to ensure client satisfaction and safety. • Formulate in conjunction with Facilities Manager emergency plans and procedures, coordinate fire drills training, regular testing and maintenance of systems ensuring the safety of clients and staff. • Ensure all relevant broadcast licenses and subscriptions: Samro, Sampra and ICASA are in place and updated regularly according to size and use within the building to comply with legal requirements. • Formulate and manage the annual Technical Services Department budget in support of the Centre’s operational and financial goals. • Exercise proper control over the department’s equipment, stock and assets by implementing and maintaining policies and procedures that govern maintenance and safe keeping of all CSIR ICC AV equipment.

Required Qualifications

• A formal 3 year technical tertiary qualification, e.g., ICT, Sound & Lighting, Electronic Engineering • 5 years management or supervisory experience in a similar position at a 5 star establishment • An understanding of requirements for a 5 star conference facility • Knowledge of operations of technical systems • Customer orientation • Strategic focus • Interpersonal skills • Attention to detail • Ability to work under pressure • Proactive • People Management skills
