Position brief We are looking for travel consultants with great enthusiasm for travelling. You will be responsible for handling all Ad Hoc or Series groups’ costing, selling, planning and handling of operations. The goal is to enhance customer satisfaction and acquire an expanding and dedicated clientele. Responsibilities and Accountabilities Marketing, Sales and Clients • Build and maintain relationships with Agents • Determining Agents or Guests’ needs by recommending and designing tailor made itineraries, packages or services in accordance to budget expectations • Supply your agents or clients with pertinent information and useful travel advices, events, promotions and materials • Respond to requests or updates within a 24h deadline • Use promotional techniques and prepare promotional materials to sell itinerary tour packages – in conjunction with our products department Planning and development • Demonstrate competency and knowledge by researching various destinations and means of travel regarding prices, customs, weather conditions and reviews • Focus on constant development and improvement of all related routines • Ad Hoc and Series groups rate negotiations • Series Groups annual allocations • Maintaining a good relationship with suppliers • Collaborate with internal departments to facilitate quotes and booking requests / sales • Meet or exceed established sales goals as determined by management • Maintain up to date knowledge of current product offerings by reading direct mail pieces and attending regularly scheduled department meetings and training/product briefing sessions Operations • Ability to quote accurately and efficiently • Ensure all booking details are correct, complete and accurate • Compile tour manuals and timed itineraries • Briefing of all parties, guides and other suppliers to secure they are fully informed of their tasks • At times, if required, to host welcome dinners • Handle unforeseen problems and complaints and determine eligibility for money returns Budget management & revenue • Manage all financial aspects of bookings • Fully responsible for budgets, from draft estimate to final reconciliation of each files • Revenue control, securing maximum margins • Creditor control / checking invoices • Collect deposits and balances • Follow up on Travel Agents or Guests’ payments Other • Ad hoc assignments • Participating in projects • Representing the company at dinners/lunches, on study tours, meet & greet etc.

Required Qualifications

Skills and Abilities • Proficiency in English and French – writing and speaking • Good knowledge of touristic sights in all parts of Southern Africa • Understanding of the European market and their respective travel needs and requirements as well as culture • Intermediate computer skills required (Microsoft Office) and ability to quickly master new technologies and systems • Highly organized and with good attention to detail • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure • Good judgment and problem solving skills • Ability to work in a team environment and open-plan office Education and Experience • Diploma in Hospitality, Travel, Tourism, Business, Sales or relevant field • Groups consulting experience at intermediate level in a tour-operating environment for a minimum of 3 years • Knowledge of traveling software preferred • Knowledge of Southern Africa

Special Requirements • Evening, weekend and approved overtime may be required • Valid passport for International travel that may be required • Valid work permit (minimum 1 year)
