Who We Are: Wetu was born 10 years ago, with big ambitions to change the way the travel industry sells travel. We spent years testing, proving the concept and perfecting the product in Africa. Having successfully developed a product that enabled the travel industry in Africa to sell the products more efficiently and effectively, we are now focussing on expanding it globally. Over the last 4 years we have we been relentless in our growth (staff, clients and revenue). We now employ 73 staff housed mainly in Cape Town with satellite sales offices in South America, Australia and Europe, and 1000s of clients all around the world. Wetu is a SaaS product and is therefore easily scalable. Wetu is an established product in the Africa travel industry but is effectively a start-up on the international stage. With no direct competition, significant international interest and an easily scalable product, Wetu is in a great position to take advantage of its position. How Our Stars Align: Having grown quickly with no sign of slowing down, we are looking for an experienced COO with proven skills, who is able to navigate the business on its exciting journey and successfully manage hypergrowth, as well as the challenges this presents. Our ideal candidate will know how to take Wetu from “good” to “great” and is just as comfortable leading from the balcony, as they are getting into the trenches. As a COO for Wetu, you will be responsible for the daily operation of the company, for securing the functionality of the business, operationalising startegy and for driving sustainable growth. Key responsibilities would include, amongst others: • Collaborating with the CEO in setting and driving the company vision, operational strategy and designing the organisational structure to achive this. • Designing and implementing an Operational Strategy that creates competitive advantage and accelerates growth & revenue. • Cascading the company's vision & strategy to all staff, and implementing appropriate rewards/recognition and coaching/corrective practices to align staff with company goals. • Translating strategy into actionable goals for performance and growth helping to implement company-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operating planning. • Developing actionable business strategies and plans that ensure alignment with short-term and long-term objectives developed in tandem with the CEO. • Overseeing company operations and employee productivity, building a positive, highly inclusive culture ensuring team members thrive and organisational outcomes are met • Overseeing daily operations of the company and the work of the leadership team (Product, Development, Marketing, Sales, Finance, HR, Customer Experience, Content etc.) • Leading and managing the LeadershipTeam – recruiting, objective setting, coaching, motivating and performance monitoring. Creating and cultivating a client centric culture within the Company. • Reporting & Metrics Management - evaluating performance by analyzing and interpreting data and metrics • Analyzing internal operations and identifying areas for Continuous Improvement. • Partnering with the CEO on international expansion to budget for enough investment capital to achieve growth targets. • Monitoring performance with tracking and establishing corrective measures as needed, and preparing detailed reports, both current and forecasting • Corporate Governance

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience as Chief Operating Officer or similar role; 5+ years experience in executive leadership positions (preferably within a SAAS company). • Sound understanding of business functions such as Prodect, Development, Sales, HR, Finance, Marketing, Customer Experience, Content Management, Supplier Engagement etc. • Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development. • Sound judgement and aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving. • BSc/BA in Business Administration or relevant field; MSc/MBA is a plus • Leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity. • Understanding of advanced business planning and regulatory issues. • A solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics. • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels. • Excellent mentoring, coaching, leadership and people management skills. • Strategic thinking - the ability to understand the business implications of decisions; display an orientation towards growth and demonstrate knowledge of market and competition. • Bonus points for: o tourism industry experience o a relevant qualification or training in Continuous Improvement (Kanban, Waterfall, Agile, Scrum, Lean, Six Sigma) and any experience in the implementation of such continuous improvement processes o Certification in Product Management and/or Project Management
