Sonia Fernandez Carralero will leave her position as Key Account Sales Manager – Latin America, S Europe, Scandinavia, and Australasia at Thompsons Africa at the end of this month.

Fernandez Carralero has a BA in Court Interpreting and is an official sworn translator in the UK, where she lived for a few years to learn English.

Her career in tourism began in 1997 as Head Receptionist at the Balmoral Hotel in Durban and she was soon promoted to front Office Manager. In 1999, she became a qualified tour guide for KwaZulu Natal.

She joined Thompsons Africa in 2011 as Sales Manager for the Spanish/Portuguese-speaking markets and the Indian Ocean islands. Soon the Australian and Scandinavian markets were added to her portfolio.

“I have been overwhelmed with meaningful messages received from my clients all around the world and from the Southern African suppliers, which made me realise that I belong in the tourism industry,” said Fernandez Carralero.

“I will always be grateful to the industry for all the joy and the friendships I have forged. Hopefully in the very near future I can dedicate myself to what I love most – selling the wonderful country that South Africa is.”
