The City of Cape Town will launch a new destination branding campaign at OR Tambo International Airport to promote Cape Town and encourage travellers to visit the city. It will run from December 1 to April 30, 2020.

The campaign includes striking imagery with a clear call to action to inspire travellers to reroute to Cape Town, says Alderman James Vos, Cape Town’s Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Opportunities and Asset Management.

Promotional material such as videos, brochures and USB toolkits have been developed and are available to download, in an effort to further position Cape Town as a preferred destination for travel, events and investment.

In conjunction with the City of Cape Town’s Draft Tourism Development Framework that was recently adopted by Council, it will boost cultural experiences and help diversify tourism products. The city’s Place Marketing strategy will shine the international spotlight on its successes, people, places and the region’s limitless opportunities to help stimulate long-term economic growth.

“We are fully committed to the tourism sector and will invest in programmes and initiatives that foster economic growth in this industry,” says Vos.

The City of Cape Town is exploring branding opportunities in the rest of Africa and key markets in Europe and the United States through city-to-city media exchanges and leveraging partnerships.
