The Lufthansa Group has expanded its long-haul network with a new flight connecting Frankfurt with Windhoek, in co-operation with Eurowings.

The inaugural event to celebrate the new route was held at Hosea Kutako International Airport, Windhoek.

Lufthansa will operate the route three times a week, year round on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Flight LH5434 will depart from Frankfurt at 20h00 and arrive at Windhoek at 07h20. The return flight LH5435 will take off from Windhoek at 09h30 on the following days and land in Frankfurt at 19h00.

The flight can be booked with both Lufthansa and Eurowings.

The new route provides access to Windhoek from Lufthansa’s 177 serviced airports in 72 countries.

"We are looking forward to connecting Namibia with the world," says Dr André Schulz, Sales Southern Africa GM, Lufthansa Group.

Germans were the largest overseas group of foreign tourists to Namibia in 2017, and Germany was in the top ten overseas tourist markets category, according to the latest figures from the Namibia Tourism Board.

Eurowings will also take over existing flights from Frankfurt to Mauritius.

Seats in economy class and premium economy class will be available for booking on all flights from mid-March 2020. Business class can be booked now.
