Bryan West has been appointed Sales Manager at Abelana Game Reserve, a new sustainable safari destination owned by the Mashishimale community.
The 15 000ha Big Five reserve is located between Phalaborwa and Hoedspruit and is leased by MTH Lodge Holdings in a pioneering sustainable eco-tourism and conservation partnership with the Mashishimale community.
West will head up Abelana's sales department and brings almost 30 years of experience working with some of the biggest names in the safari sector. He most recently headed up the sales, marketing and reservations team at the Karongwe Portfolio, but began his career with reservations positions at Orient Express and &Beyond before becoming Sales and Marketing Director of Exeter Game Lodges.
"Having known Bryan for many years I am excited about his involvement in the Abelana Game Reserve project," says MTH Lodge Holdings and Abelana CEO, Ian Beauchamp. "He is committed to adding value to the Abelana brand and has an excellent reputation in the tourism industry."
"I've been fortunate enough to experience and contribute to a diverse range of brands in my career, working in many different positions from reservations to sales and marketing. I've been a part owner of a tour operation and a sole proprietor, so I have a broad understanding of this industry," says West.
"Abelana Game Reserve reminds me of Botswana and South Africa combined, with stunning river frontage, massive baobabs, superb levels of accommodation, together with great walking safaris and game drives. More importantly, Ian and his team are formidable industry players, and it is people who make lodges, not just bricks and mortar. I am looking forward to what the future holds," he adds.
