Tanzania is finalising the establishment of a special authority that will be responsible for promoting beach tourism, in a bid to increase international tourist arrivals.

Tourism Minister Hamisi Kigwangalla said the country had great beach tourism and urged the Tanzania Tourism Board to promote attractions to targeted countries, particularly Australia, Russia, China, India, and the Gulf region.

“The plan to promote beach tourism is in line with the strategic plan to encourage tourists to increase the number of days they spend in the country.”

Deputy Minister of Tourism, Constantine Kanyasu, said that the authority would ensure that Tanzania’s beaches would be a preferred destination for international tourists and that he had requested the government to develop Coco Beach and other beaches in the country.
