Instagram racked up one billion active monthly users in June, with more than 70% of users being under the age of 35. Millennials are the game-changing generation that is driving the global shift to more flexible and remote working, reveals a study by Condeco, a software company, factors that will see millennials booking more spontaneous short trips in 2019, says Acacia Africa.
Arno Delport, Sales and Marketing Manager at Acacia Africa comments: “Instagram is clearly a power to be reckoned with when it comes to our desire to discover more, as it's the world's most authentic travel brochure. We already know millennials place a much higher value on experiences as opposed to things, so we’re definitely going to be seeing Gen Y booking more bite-size bursts of adventure, and jetting off more frequently during 2019.”
Keen to piggy-back on the trend, Acacia Africa is launching a four-day Garden Route Express overland tour next year. National Geographic once described this stretch of the south-eastern coast of South Africa as “the road trip that will break your Instagram”.
The itinerary starts in the Tsitsikamma National Park, home to the Otter Trail; the world’s highest commercial bungee jump; a wealth of outdoor activities from kloofing to canoeing; and the coastal reserve part of the Garden Route National Park, ending in Cape Town. The trip also branches off into the Klein Karoo and the ‘ostrich capital of the world’, with a visit to the Cango Caves, with its series of dripstone caverns opening into vast halls of towering stalactite formations; and Hermanus, the ‘whale-watching capital of the world’ situated on the Whale Route. Additional stops at the Cape Agulhas Lighthouse and local winery are included en route to the Mother City.
The Garden Route Express camping overland tour plus adventure pass includes transport, accommodation (twin-share), most meals, and services of a tour leader/driver, for those aged between 18 and 39.
Other bite-size overland safaris from Acacia Africa include the four-day Kruger Safari, six-day Troop To The Gorillas, seven-day African Insight and the seven-day Kruger Swazi & Beach, the safari specialist’s overland collection aimed at travellers aged between 18 and 39 years.
The tours are set to go live on January 2. For more information, click here.
