One&Only has appointed Jacques Le Roux as Resort Manager at One&Only Nyungwe House in Rwanda.

Located in a working tea plantation in Gisakura, south-west Rwanda, on the edge of the Nyungwe Forest, the resort started welcoming guests on October 1.

Le Roux will be responsible for the overall operation of One&Only Nyungwe House and will support the strategic development of the brand’s resorts in Rwanda.

He has over ten years of experience in the luxury hospitality industry, having held positions such as GM, Resident Manager and Camp Manager in various African lodges, camps and hotels.

Prior to joining One&Only, Le Roux was GM at Eden Belo Monte, a boutique hotel in São Tomé and Príncipe, where he led over 100 team members and was in charge of all operations, including marketing, sales and reservations. Le Roux has also worked in South Africa, Bermuda, the UK, Europe and Botswana.

He grew up just outside of Cape Town, and after leaving school moved to the UK where he joined the Nike Hotel Group and studied hospitality management. Upon completion of his studies, Le Roux joined one of their hotels as Conferencing and Banqueting Manager. Following this he moved to Bermuda where he worked on cruise ships for a number of years before moving back to South Africa, where he worked in lodges around the Kruger National Park.

Nestled within a lush tea plantation, on the edge of an ancient rainforest in Rwanda, One&Only Nyungwe House is an exceptional resort, offering truly unique, once-in-a-lifetime experiences for guests to discover,” commented Philippe Zuber, President and COO. “Le Roux’s extensive experience and deep understanding of Africa will be a huge asset for One&Only, complementing the passionate team of people we have in place at the resort, from the Executive Chef through to the Guest Experience Experts.”
