Daily scheduled flights have been launched between Nairobi and the Nyaribo Airstrip in Nyeri, Kenya. The airstrip currently only services charter flights.
The route, operated by Bush Air Safaris and bookable through Fly Tristar, will see a daily return 20-minute flight. Tourists travelling to Aberdare National Park and Mount Kenya could previously only drive the route which is around three hours by road. The flights will service popular hotels in the area including The Ark, Treetops Lodge, the Outspan and Aberdare Country Club.
Speaking at the arrival of the inaugural flight on October 6, Nyeri Governor, Mutahi Kahiga, said: “We believe the airstrip will go a long way in improving trade and tourism, especially given Nyeri has many tourist destinations.”
The flight will will cost KSh3 000 (€25) one way, including refreshments.
