South African Tourism (SAT) recently showcased its new brand film, a short inspirational film that was shot across South Africa.

It tells the story of Bheki, a young Mbhaco maker from the Eastern Cape, who travels the country in search of inspiration for an Mbhaco – a traditional Xhosa wedding gown with a modern twist.

During his travels he meets people who welcome him while he samples all of what the many varied cultures have to offer.

While he comes across plenty of inspiration for his Mbhaco, he also meets a country teeming with an array of places to visit, with unforgettable experiences and culturally rooted people who leave an impression on him.

Chief Marketing Officer of SAT, Margie Whitehouse, says: “We are incredibly proud of our newest marketing showcase as it so vibrantly captures the essence of our country. From the people that Bheki meets along his journey, to the sights and sounds he delights in whilst in cities or the wilderness, his journey mirrors that of every visitor who has come to South Africa and experienced our country in all its glory.

“The brand film aims to enthuse, intrigue and inspire people to know more about the country, to visit South Africa and also to travel around their own country. It is an extension of South African Tourism’s commitment to inspiring people to travel and, in so doing, growing tourism arrivals,” says Whitehouse.

South African film maker, Teboho Mahlatsi, was brought in to direct the film with photographer and Instagram sensation, Hloni Coleman.
