Sisa Ntshona, South African Tourism CEO, and Victor Tharage, Tourism Director General of the National Department of Tourism, visited Chinese tourists in hospital on Sunday. The three tourists were injured during an armed robbery at a hotel in Johannesburg on February 5 and taken to the hospital following the incident.

Ntshona expressed his sympathy and said: “We sympathise with the victims of this crime. South African Tourism takes incidents of crime very serious as the safety of all tourists and citizens is of paramount importance to us.” He wished the injured tourists a speedy recovery, adding that SA Tourism would closely follow their progress.

In a statement SA Tourism and the tourism sector said they were saddened by the incident and were working closely with the relevant authorities to reassure all tourists that South Africa was a safe destination for visitors.
