The manager of the Sakhumzi restaurant in Soweto, South Africa, was shot and killed on Sunday during a robbery, Johannesburg police confirmed to African News Agency.

Police spokesperson, Captain Kay Makhubele, said the manager of the restaurant on Vilakazi Street was shot several times by suspects who then fled the scene.

The owner of Sakhumzi restaurant, Sakhumzi Maqubela, expressed his condolences to the family of the victim on Monday. “We wish to let our customers know that their safety is our priority,” said Maqubela.  

Makhubele said a case of murder and robbery had been opened. No arrests had been made and police were still investigating.
