Following the release to the public of 14 731 room nights previously contracted to MATCH, SANParks has announced that it has sold two-thirds of the inventory on day of release (March 4).

“After announcing that we would be releasing the accommodation received back from MATCH, we were pleased to note that by midnight on the date of making the units available on our systems, two-thirds were sold out and we are positive that the remainder of unsold inventory will be sold soon,” said Glenn Phillips, Managing Executive of Tourism and Marketing at SANParks.

In addition to the rapid sale of the World Cup accommodation on the day, SANParks said it had also recorded a day of highest online sales of accommodation through its website.

“This booking system has proved itself a real asset to SANParks and we are glad to have made this available for our clients’ convenience and even more so after witnessing how many more clients are using this system to make their bookings with SANParks.”

Phillips also said that clients should be aware that campsites at Skukuza, Pretoriuskop and Berg en Dal in the Kruger National Park have also been released and are available for booking.

Accommodation is also available for the June and July period at other parks managed by SANParks and bookings can be made by calling SANParks’ reservations or visiting the website.
