The majority of South African operators are honest and the success of the world cup will prove them right
Guests are still unsure of South Africa ?

Fantastic to have DERTour on Take 5 and to get an international insight to something like the world cup - keep the international operator interviews coming through One thing that troubles me is the comment is that "guests are still unsure about South Africa and need education" This concerns me in that my immediate question is - How long have international operators / SA Tourism been "selling" SA in the international market place ? Surely after nearly 20 years of post apartheid freedom we should be slightly over that hurdle ? The average consumer should have been exposed to SA as a destination now to tackle these issues ? Indeed after knowing for nearly 6 years that SA will have the world cup consumers should have been aware where and how to get to SA etc by now - to still advise that consumers need training on SA as a destination, I am afraid will ensure that the arrival stats will not reflect the true potential of the destination...bit late now

Price Increase World Cup
Willy Steincke
09 Feb 2010
It is well knowen that during special events Prices go up a little becouse of the emand. Fifa it self, with the "Match" Organisation, startet the Price Rage Blocking Accommodation for a long Period of Time and therefore making not enough accommodation available!! Then oure local Service Provider, Airlines, Train, Bus Service, Food, Electricety etc followed very quickly. There is no Service available, but we are confrontet with Price Increases of up to 300% and more!!! The SATourism Ministry should have put a stop to it, but instate oure Minister is happy to hold meaningless Speeches. The Worl Cup Organising Committee has very little Organised for the Spectator up to now and trying to become information is almost Impossible. This will have a very negative Impact on SA after the World Cup! Not that we exspectet to many Soccer Fans Returning as Tourist but they will Talk!!!! Willy Steincke
