CLOETE’S Restaurant, in the heart of the Cape’s Constantia winelands, has recently received a facelift.
Existing old timber screen doors were moved forward to break the space of the restaurant and new lighting added to complement the atmosphere of the dining area.
“When working with a heritage building, one has to choose colour, texture and fabrics to enhance the existing structure that remains unchanged but can be transformed, such as the character of the restaurant’s timber floors and window frames, the ancient glass panes and the timber beams,” says interior designer, Lisa Bond of Porcupine Interior Architecture.
The restaurant serves contemporary South African food and has an extensive wine list – a selection dedicated to the Constantia Valley.
The restaurant has appointed Simon Kemp as its new chef.
Kemp’s extensive experience includes working for Simola Hotel, Golf, Country Club & Spa, the Cape Town International Convention Centre and Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve.
